KATHERINE TOZER

Katherine spent her early years living in bungalows, caravans, farmhouses and milking parlours in Cornwall. She performed song-and-dance routines for holidaymakers at theatres across the Southwest. She went to Oxford and won an award (and an agent) playing a mute nine-year-old who hangs himself.

Secretary of OUDS and president of the Experimental Theatre Club, she joined the RSC at 21 and went on to work with Harold Pinter, Caryl Churchill, Phyllis Nagy and Stephen Daldry, playing roles ranging from Phaedra to Blanche duBois (TMA nom). With Nick’s support, Katherine founded Palimpsest in 2013 to create fully-imagined, immersive worlds.

Katherine has adapted The Seagull and The Cherry Orchard for BBC Radio 3 and is currently under commission with the BBC to adapt Ivanov and The Castle of Otranto for Radio 3 and 4 respectively.

Katherine Tozer is the most thorough historical playwright working in London today, with keen attention to detail which she balances with lyrical and euphonious understanding of language as spoken.”

NICK BARBER

Nick grew up in a cult. Luckily he found an escape in books and discovered a love for the inner world of stories. After training at RADA, he pursued a career on stage in companies at the National Theatre, Shakespeare’s Globe, Punchdrunk Theatre and the West End. After meeting Katherine onstage at the RSC, Nick joined Palimpsest to act, direct and produce for the company.

Nick’s latest project was collaborating with Director/Producer Charles Dorfman on his first feature film ‘Barbarians’, currently on release in the U.S. and available on Sky Originals. He’s also a regular in ‘The Archers’ on BBC Radio 4, playing pig farmer Rex Fairbrother.

Now, alongside Katherine, he works to bring untold stories to life for stage, screen and television and radio.
